How to Start My Online Business

This list is a compilation of products, services and books I use to GSD (Get Shit Done).

Disclosure:  Some of the links provided are affiliate links. I will earn a commission if you decide to make a purchase – at no additional cost to you. Please understand my recommendations come with experience. I recommend these products, services and items because they are the shit! It’s because they are helpful and useful, not because I’ll make money off them.  Please, do your due diligence, and do not spend any money on these products unless you feel you need them or that they will help you achieve your goals.

Legally Incorporating Your Business

The Corporation Company I established my business LLC with The Corporation Company. They helped me figure out the package I needed while I spoke to them over the phone. I refer this company specifically because I’ve worked with them, and they also serve as my registered agent. Call them for more information if you need it, or start the process without pressure online.

Blogging, Web Design & Hosting

WordPress Like most bloggers, I find the WordPress interface to be extremely helpful. If you can manage MS Office or Open Office, you can use WordPress.

HostGator – I used to use 1&1, JustHost and HostMonster. I didn’t care for 1&1, JustHost seemed to nickel and dime and have long support times. HostMonster was acquired by this one company that’s buying all the “cheap” hosting up and their service degenerated. HostGator isn’t perfect but you get to speak to humans, they understand you clearly, and you’re not on hold forever. COUPON CODE: 1CENT – this will get your first month for 1 penny.

GoDaddy – I register domains through GoDaddy. I change the nameservers to my HostGator account, then proceed as usual. This is a good practice because if you ever want to change webhosts, you won’t feel “locked” into a hosting company because they have your domain name.

VeerI *love* Veer. This is where I get nearly all of my images for Sexy Focused Ambitious and most of my other sites and projects. The best part of this is that Veer has great customer service, and you get 10 credits when you sign up for a free account. You can purchase images using credit cards, prepaid credit packs and through a monthly subscription. Sign up at Veer.com and get 10 FREE credits to spend on images, fonts, and merch.

Headway – This is the WordPress theme and framework that SexyFocusedAmbitious runs on. What I love about Headway is the visual editor. I’ve been using this theme for about a year now, and every update has exciting changes and improvements. A good theme for the basic WordPress user or the hardcore coder.

Lynda – Online software training videos that really work. Learn marketing, Adobe Photoshop, MS Office – anything – at the push of a button.

Lifestyle Design, Inspiration & Entrepreneurial People of Interest

The Middle Finger Project – Explicit, raucously funny and demonstrably creative, copywriter and business consultant Ash Ambirge inspires the foul-mouthed and big-hearted to realize their potential.

Redhead Writing – Another foul-mouthed copywriter, Erika Napoletano rants, raves and bitch slaps

Danielle LaPorte – White hot truth for any man or woman seeking to get over the myth of life-work balance, sticking to the status quo and fear of their true, authentic selves. Danielle is Tantric sex syrup poured over

Marie Forleo – How to be Rich, Happy and Hot by building a business and brand that changes the world. Be yourself, be you, be even better than you thought you could be.

Kadena Tate – Kadena Tate expresses timeless wisdom through Authentic Prosperity. Uncover your internal blockages against success and manifest your greatest potential, right here, right now.

RyzeOnlineJason Fonceca’s Ryze Online discusses sex, business, life and more, addressing taboo topics most people don’t

 Marketing

Aweber – Email Marketing. First month is only $1, support is pretty good. A lot of great companies use Aweber for top-notch deliverability.

Emma – Email marketing again. I loved the small boutique feel of Emma, but I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t customize or control the size of my email opt-in boxes the way I’d like to.

Book Writing & Digital Content Development

Your Big Beautiful Book Plana digital program by Danielle LaPorte & Linda Sivertsen to help you get your book into the world – where it belongs. Includes book proposals from a wealth of successful authors, including Johnathan Fields, Danielle LaPorte, Tiphani Montgomery and more.
